Tempering chocolate

I've put together the necessary baking/candy making list for Christmas, and am wondering if there is a way to temper chocolate without using a marble board, etc. Has anyone had any success with doing this the easy way and relying on the chocolate's quality? I have easy access to Valhrona. Thanks!
