About two years ago I developed a food allergy to soy. I had love Asian cuisine for many years prior, but now with the allergy have stayed away from most Asian cooking due to soy sauce, tofu and edamame and other soy based products which i am not sure is an issue or not. My reaction was to soy-milk. I eat food with soy lecithin and even some soybean oils because these are processed and doesn't seem to have the same affect the soy milk had which landed me in the emergency room with everything swelling and closing up.
My reason for posting was to see if anyone had heard of alternatives to use in asian cooking which would substitute for soy sauce. I really want to get back to eating asian style foods, but i do not to sacrifice taste just to execute the style of cooking. Any suggestions would be great.
