pastrami

Good Morning,
Has anyone ever made pastrami. Techniques and advice about successes and Failures are both welcome. I have made corned beef, but have not tackled pastrami before.I have soaked my brisket in brine and will soak it in water for about 3 hours changing the water every 1/2 hour to it ready for the pastrami rub. I intend on hot smoking it because I have not cold smoker. I am not looking for how to do it but experinces of those who have. Anyone?
