What led the editor, I wonder, to believe Mulligatawny Soup is Irish?
Similarity to the Irish surname Mulligan perhaps.
Isn't the curry powder a dead giveaway?
It is usually regarded as of Indian origin but the name is an Anglicised version of its Sri Lankan name so perhaps it originated in Sri Lanka.

Not to be confuded with Mulligan Stew, a variant of Irish Stew.
