Canning advice - white residue on pickled beets

Hi,

I've just noticed a white residue or sediment at the bottom of a jar of pickled beets that I made last summer. In addition, there's some of the same residue or a discolouration that's the same colour on the very edge of a few of the pieces of beets. I did have a can of these some time ago, and there was no problem. The pressure seal seems to be good and there's no other sign of a problem, but I know that you're not supposed to risk it if there's any chance that canned goods are bad. Has anyone come across this issue with beets? What's going on? Do I need to toss the jar? how about other jars from the same batch if they don't have the sediment?

Thanks for any advice,

Andrew
