Aged garlic becomes extremely spicy

Hi, I bought a jar of garlic that was prepeeled, and I keep it in my fridge. Sounds bad but the recommended expiration date for it was about 2 weeks ago.

But the garlic tastes great - it is extremely spicy. Parts of it have turned a light green, not from mold or anything, they have turned green like they are underripe, but they are the herb equivilant to 'overripe'. Eat too much and it stings your mouth real bad.

I was wondering, is it ok to eat this garlic health wise? Is it more healthy, less healthy? Is it ok for the stomach and digestive system?

Thanks,

Sean
